Jakarta — The DPR RI has officially ratified the Election Perppu to become law. This is concrete proof that indeed the democratic party cannot be postponed at all and carried out according to schedule.

Right on Tuesday (4/4) at the 2nd Plenary Meeting – Session IV for the 2022-2023 Session Year, Perppu No. 1/2022 concerning Elections became Law by the Indonesian Parliament.

“We will ask each faction whether the Bill on Perppu Number 1 of 2022 concerning Amendments to Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections to become Law can be approved to be passed into law?” said DPR Speaker Puan Maharani.

“Agreed,” replied the board members.

With this ratification, Puan Maharani also ensured that the 2024 elections would indeed be held according to the agreed schedule.

“The election, God willing, will continue according to the existing schedule and God willing, it will be held on February 14, 2024,” he said.

He then hoped that the ratification of the Election Perppu would become a law to be able to bring legal certainty in the implementation of democratic parties in Indonesia.

After the ratification, the chairman of the DPR RI also really wants the 2024 elections to run safely, comfortably and happily for the people.

It is hoped that conduciveness will continue in society without division at all.

“Without then there is division with each other in running a democratic party, and this Law on Elections can then be implemented as well as possible,” said Puan.

Meanwhile, with this ratification, the Vice President (Wapres RI), KH. Ma’ruf Amin welcomed him well.

The reason is, with this policy, there are now four new autonomous regions (DOB) of Papua that can take part in the 2024 elections.

When the four regions of the New Autonomous Region of Papua can take part in the 2024 elections, there will be a distribution of representatives.

“So that the distribution of representatives can be carried out and that is indeed what has been attempted so far,” he said

“Apart from the division, regional autonomy, but also the implementation of the upcoming elections, including the election of the governor at the appointed time,” added the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

On another occasion, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mahfud MD emphasized that no party could delay the holding of elections, even including the Supreme Court (MA).

This is because elections are constitutional orders.

“Shouting how can this election be postponed just because of the Supreme Court’s decision,” he said.
