DPR Ensures Readiness for Holding 19th PUIC Conference Reaches 100 Percent
Jakarta – Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indra Iskandar, emphasized that the Indonesian House of Representatives has ensured almost 100 percent readiness in organizing the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) which will be held on 12-15 May 2025 in Jakarta.
“In terms of planning, we are very ready. Today we are reconfirming the technical aspects with the relevant agencies, starting from immigration, customs, Angkasa Pura, to AirNav,” said Indra when giving an official statement on Friday, May 2, 2025.
This readiness covers all technical aspects and substance of the event, reflecting Indonesia’s seriousness in making this strategic international parliamentary forum a success. A series of technical simulations and logistics checks have been carried out comprehensively with the appointed Professional Conference Organizer (PCO). Given the scale and importance of this event, the involvement of various parties is essential to maintain high standards of service and security.
The 19th PUIC Conference is a strategic event for parliaments of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss various global issues, including solidarity with Palestine, development cooperation, and geopolitical challenges in the Islamic world.
At least 23 countries have confirmed their attendance, with a total of 279 delegates confirmed to attend. This number has the potential to increase along with ongoing communication with a number of other countries.
“We estimate that there will be between 500 and 600 participants, including delegates and representatives of international organizations,” explained Indra.
In addition, the Indonesian House of Representatives has also invited important figures from the Southeast Asian region, such as the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Prime Minister of Singapore, as a form of inclusive and open diplomacy. Their presence has the potential to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a strategic axis in regional and Islamic world cooperation.
The conference is planned to be officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. This is an important sign that the central government is providing full support for this activity.
The hashtag #PrabowoDiMataDunia also emerged as a symbol of public appreciation for Indonesia’s active role in international diplomacy, especially through President Prabowo’s leadership, which is considered proactive in strengthening relations between Muslim countries.
The PUIC Forum is expected to be a productive dialogue space for parliamentarians to formulate solutions to various common challenges, both from economic, social, and political aspects.
“This momentum is very important for Indonesia to strengthen inter-parliamentary diplomacy, while also demonstrating our capacity as a host capable of organizing international forums with high standards,” concluded Indra.
