Jakarta – The government, through the Village Electricity (Lisdes) program, is targeting the provision of electricity to 780,000 households by 2029.

This program is aimed at reaching villages that do not yet have access to electricity, especially in remote, frontier and outermost (3T) areas.

The investment disbursed is estimated to reach IDR 50 trillion.

In the 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) presented on May 26, 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) set a target for the construction of power plants of 294 megawatts (MW) over the next five years.

In 2025, the government plans to invest IDR 4.52 trillion for Lisdes, consisting of village network development, increasing electricity hours to 24 hours, and assistance for new electricity installations (BPBL).

President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Darmawan Prasodjo, explained that the government has allocated a budget of around IDR 42.3 trillion to support the Lisdes program for the next five years.

“The President said that a budget of Rp42.3 trillion will be allocated, so we already have this roadmap,” said Darmawan in a meeting with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Darmawan added that this program is designed to increase the electrification ratio (RE) and the electrified village ratio (RDB) to 100%. As of March 2025, RE has been at 99.83% and RDB at 99.94%.

The Lisdes implementation plan includes connecting electricity to 10,068 villages. In 2025, it is targeted that 1,092 villages will be electrified, followed by 1,278 villages in 2026, 3,822 villages in 2027, and 2,124 and 1,752 villages in 2028 and 2029 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Head of Sukabangun Village in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, Kasius, welcomed the changes that have occurred in his village since electricity was available 24 hours a day.

“I am very happy and grateful that electricity has entered our village, thank you PLN. Hopefully with this electricity, our village will progress and the community’s economy will improve even more,” he said.

On the other hand, the Governor of North Maluku, Sherly Tjoanda, also gave his appreciation.

“The Lisdes program is very important to create equitable development in our vast and archipelagic region. We hope that with access to electricity, the community can develop further, especially in the economic and education sectors,” he said.
