Jakarta – Minister of Communication and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia, Meutya Hafid, emphasized the importance of the role of families in eradicating online gambling practices. She emphasized that online gambling has become a national social crisis that must be addressed immediately and comprehensively. “We have blocked more than 1 million online gambling sites, but this problem is not over yet. The government has the authority, but what is much more important is the support of the ecosystem as a whole. Therefore, I appreciate the steps taken by the platform and stakeholders in the Gambling Alliance that are willing to work together to fight online gambling,” said Meutya Hafid.
As part of the education effort, the government supports the Gambling Movement that involves Gojek driver partners as agents of change. According to Meutya, the involvement of Gojek driver partners is very important because they are close to the community.
“We want the number of online gambling to drop significantly. The key is to strengthen public understanding, starting from the closest environment. We hope that Gojek driver partners can help educate the public about the dangers of online gambling,” she added.

This step shows the government’s commitment to creating a healthy and safe digital ecosystem for the Indonesian people by collaborating with various parties.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also highlighted the importance of the role of families in preventing online gambling practices, especially among children. He revealed that online gambling now targets not only adults, but also minors. The perpetrators are getting smarter by disguising the appearance of the game to resemble a regular game.

“Like it or not, we have to diligently check our children’s cellphones, so that we can find out. Because if we don’t, of course our young generation will slowly experience damage,” said Sigit.
In addition to supervision, he also emphasized the importance of early education in the family environment to raise awareness of the dangers of online gambling.
“Of course we have to prevent it, how do we start from early preventive prevention. Of course we have to socialize to our children, to our families about the dangers of online gambling,” he explained.
The role of the family in building awareness of the negative impacts of online gambling is very important. With strict supervision and proper education, it is hoped that the young generation can avoid the trap of online gambling and grow in a healthier and more productive environment.
