Firmly Guard the Dignity of the TNI, PPAD Rejects One-Sided Demands of Retired Officers

Jakarta – The Indonesian Army Retired Officers Association (PPAD) has taken a firm stance against the eight demands voiced by the Forum of Retired TNI Officers to the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. Acting Chairman of PPAD, Major General (Ret) Komaruddin Simanjuntak, emphasized that these demands do not represent the official stance of the organization nor the entirety of retired TNI officers.

“We want to state that these declarations do not represent the views of all retired TNI officers,” said Komaruddin.

He emphasized that PPAD is a legally recognized organization that serves as the official platform for the aspirations and contributions of retired TNI officers to the government and society.

While respecting the aspirations of fellow retirees, Komaruddin reminded the importance of preserving the dignity, unity, and honor of the TNI as an institution that stands firm for the integrity of the nation.

“We invite everyone to together safeguard the honor and dignity of the TNI. Let us continue our service by adhering to the Sapta Marga, the Soldier’s Oath, and the code of conduct of a warrior,” he asserted.

PPAD also rejects the politicization of the institution of retired officers for specific agendas that could lead to division. Regarding the proposed impeachment of Vice President Gibran, PPAD calls on all parties to respect the constitution and not to violate ethical boundaries in expressing opinions.

In line with this, the Indonesian Retired TNI-Polri Officers Association, consisting of national figures such as General (Ret) Wiranto and Agum Gumelar, has openly declared support for the Prabowo-Gibran administration. They reaffirmed their commitment to support national development in accordance with the Asta Cita mandate and to maintain the unity of TNI-Polri as the pillar of national resilience.

“Retired TNI-Polri officers remain loyal and obedient to the constitution, support government programs, and invite the entire public to maintain national stability,” said Komaruddin in a joint statement.

Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio noted that the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and former Vice President Try Sutrisno during a halal bihalal event for retired TNI officers was a key moment to ease the controversy surrounding the eight demands of the Forum of Retired Officers, including the proposal to impeach Vice President Gibran.

“In communication studies, there is the term ‘noise’ or interference. If this proposal from retired TNI officers gets caught in the noise, the message could be misheard as the TNI proposing the impeachment of the vice president, which I think is wrong,” said Hendri Satrio.

He also reminded that impeaching the vice president is a long and complex process that must go through a strict constitutional mechanism.

With this stance, PPAD and national retirees aim to ensure that aspirations are built on a spirit of nationalism that is calm and constructive, not provocative or divisive.
