Jakarta – The government continues to strive to improve the quality of life of the community, one of which is through the launch of a free health check-up program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. This program aims to reduce the death rate from non-communicable diseases, which is currently one of the major challenges in the health sector in the country.
Spokesperson for the Presidential Communications Office, Dedek Prayudi said that President Prabowo realized that solving health problems could not only be done with a curative approach (treatment), but more on promotive and preventive aspects.
“President Prabowo emphasized that this free health check-up program is not only to treat sick people, but more on detecting diseases early, so that the risk of disease can be reduced to reduce the death rate from non-communicable diseases,” said Dedek.
Similarly, the Director of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, stated that this policy is a strategic step that is very beneficial for the community. This program is expected to create higher awareness among the community about the importance of health and disease prevention.
“This free health check-up program provides an opportunity for the community to monitor their health condition without having to be burdened with costs. This is a real commitment from the government to improve the quality of public health,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi said that this program is not only beneficial for individual health, but can also increase community productivity. According to him, this program can help detect diseases earlier, so that preventive measures can be taken more quickly.
“A healthy society will be more productive, and this will have an impact on the country’s economy. Increased productivity will result in a higher life expectancy and better community income,” said Budi.
For information, this free health check program is designed to reach 60 million Indonesians in the first year of its implementation, namely 2025. In the next five years, the target is to cover 200 million people. With this significant number, it is hoped that more residents can feel the benefits of early detection of diseases, ranging from hypertension, diabetes, to cancer, which are often only detected when they have reached an advanced stage.
In addition to health benefits, this program also has a positive impact on the Indonesian economy. With more healthy people, work productivity will increase, which in turn will encourage sustainable economic growth. This is in line with the vision of the Prabowo-Gibran government which is committed to creating a healthier and more prosperous Indonesian society.
