Jakarta – The free health check-up program initiated by the Prabowo-Gibran administration has received widespread support from various sectors. This strategic move is seen as a major breakthrough in expanding access to healthcare services for all Indonesians, while also strengthening the government’s commitment to improving public welfare.

Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, emphasized that this program is part of the national strategy to improve the quality of public health. “We ensure that all puskesmas (community health centers) and clinics across Indonesia are ready to implement this program. The government is continuously expanding the reach of services to make it easier for the public to access regular health check-ups,” he said.

Director General of Primary and Community Health at the Ministry of Health, Maria Endang Sumiwi, stated that the program will run in 10,000 puskesmas and 15,000 clinics across Indonesia. “Each healthcare facility will have an initial quota of 30 patients per day, with the potential for expansion as the program is evaluated. This is the government’s tangible commitment to providing equitable healthcare services for all citizens,” she explained.

Support for this program also comes from local governments. The Head of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control (P2PTM) Division at the East Kalimantan Health Office, Ika Gladies, mentioned that this program is an innovative solution that encourages the public to become more aware of their health. “With free health check-ups, early detection of various diseases can be done more quickly, thus increasing the life expectancy of the population,” she said.

Additionally, the program aligns with the government’s efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services. The government plans to extend the operational hours of puskesmas and increase the number of medical personnel to ensure that this program runs optimally. This will allow more people to access these services without time and capacity constraints.

Public health expert at Mulawarman University, Ferry Fadzlul Rahman, views this program as a significant step in the national healthcare reform. “The government has demonstrated real concern by providing free healthcare services for the people. This is a strategic move that must continue to be supported and developed in the future,” he stated.

With full support from various stakeholders, the free health check-up program is expected to bring significant changes in improving the quality of life for Indonesians. The government remains committed to ensuring that healthcare services are increasingly accessible and sustainable for all citizens.
