Jakarta – As an effort to improve public health during Ramadan, the government is holding a free health check program that can be accessed by the public. This program is one form of government concern in ensuring that the public remains healthy while carrying out the fasting worship.

Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin ensured that the free health check program will continue during the month of Ramadan. This program will continue to operate according to the working hours of the Health Centers in each region.

“The program continues as usual,” Budi said. He also emphasized that various health checks, such as blood pressure measurements and dental and oral examinations, can still be done even while fasting.

On the same occasion, Budi also met with a team of experts from Brazil who have expertise in agriculture and medicine. One of the main topics of discussion was efforts to reduce the price of generic drugs to make them more affordable for the public.

The free birthday-based health check program has been launched nationally since February 10, 2025.

“People born in January, February, and March can still use free health vouchers until April 2025,” explained Budi.

In addition, health checks at registered health facilities are valid for a period of 30 days after the birthday.

Previously, the Batam Class I Special Immigration Office held free health checks for employees and the public at the Batam Center Immigration Office.

In addition to health checks, the event also includes health socialization and distribution of nutritious food. Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration of the Riau Islands, Ujo Sujoto, explained that this activity is part of the national policy proposed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Immigration and Corrections as a form of social service for the community.

“We want to ensure that people can experience Ramadan in prime health,” he said.

Various examinations are carried out, including early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid, as well as infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV.

In fact, there are mental health counseling services available for employees and passport applicants to ensure their mental well-being ahead of Ramadan.

Head of the Batam Immigration Office, Hajar Aswad, added that this activity also paid special attention to women’s health by holding counseling on cervical cancer for female employees and Dharma Wanita members in the Immigration environment.
