Free Health Checkups: A Concrete Step Toward Indonesia Emas 2045

Jakarta – The Free Health Checkup Program (CKG), one of the government’s flagship national initiatives launched in February 2025, is considered a strategic step toward realizing the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045—a prosperous, advanced, and highly competitive nation as it marks 100 years of independence.

Launched by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the CKG program is a top priority in the effort to develop superior human capital in the health sector. President Prabowo emphasized that public health is the foundation for national progress.

“We cannot talk about the future if our people remain vulnerable to diseases that are, in fact, preventable,” he stated.

The CKG program offers free basic health screenings for the public, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol levels, cardiac function, and medical consultations.

These services are available to all Indonesian citizens with a National Identification Number (NIK) and are provided at primary health facilities such as community health centers (puskesmas) and partner clinics.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced that the program aims to complete 60 million screenings in 2025, with coverage expanding to more than 200 million people by 2026. A budget of IDR 4.7 trillion (approx. USD 300 million) has been allocated through a synergy of national and regional budgets (APBN and APBD), demonstrating the government’s commitment to making preventive healthcare a top priority.

“This program is not just about free checkups. It’s about raising public awareness of early detection. We want to shift the public mindset from treatment to prevention,” he explained.

Citizens can access this service by registering through the Satu Sehat Mobile app, using the WhatsApp chatbot at +62 811-1050-0567, or by visiting the nearest health facility with their ID card or Family Card. Checkups can be scheduled from 30 days before until 30 days after a person’s birthday.

Across the country, the program has been well received. Long lines of residents were seen at health centers in Surabaya, Makassar, and Medan. Many participants expressed gratitude, especially given the high cost of health screenings when done privately.

With the Free Health Checkup Program, the government is taking tangible steps toward building a healthy and productive generation, laying the groundwork for achieving the goals of Indonesia Emas 2045.
