Jakarta – The government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicate corruption in Indonesia following the conditional release of former House Speaker Setya Novanto. President Prabowo Subianto remains firmly at the forefront of efforts to enforce the law impartially.

Minister of Law and Human Rights, Supratman Andi Agtas, assured that President Prabowo’s stance on law enforcement has been clear from the beginning. According to him, the fight against corruption is one of the president’s main priorities.

“The position on law is very clear. Even before becoming president, he made it clear that he would lead from the front in eradicating corruption,” Supratman said.

This statement also aims to dispel public concerns that Setya Novanto’s conditional release might weaken anti-corruption efforts. The government emphasized that all legal processes continue to run according to established mechanisms, without political interference.

Support for the president’s commitment has also come from political circles. On the occasion of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s firm stance. PKS President Almuzzammil Yusuf affirmed the party’s full support for the government’s consistent approach to tackling corruption.

“PKS fully supports President Prabowo’s commitment to eradicate corruption. This is a shared hope that Indonesia will become increasingly free from corruption practices that harm the people,” Almuzzammil said.

Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, clarified the legal basis for Setya Novanto’s conditional release. He stressed that the decision was not a relaxation of the law but a measure in accordance with existing regulations.

“Yes. It has undergone an assessment process, and based on the judicial review examination, he has served the required time. It should have been on the 25th of last month,” Agus explained.

Agus added that conditional release is a right granted to any inmate who fulfills the administrative and substantive requirements. Therefore, this decision should not be seen as neglecting the spirit of anti-corruption efforts.

Nonetheless, the government reiterated that combating corruption remains a top priority. President Prabowo has repeatedly delivered a firm message that there is no tolerance for corruption under his administration. Moving forward, anti-corruption strategies will be strengthened through cross-agency synergy, encompassing law enforcement, budget oversight, and the digitization of government systems.

Thus, the government stressed that Setya Novanto’s conditional release does not diminish the state’s commitment to eradicating corruption. On the contrary, this moment is expected to reinforce a collective awareness that anti-corruption efforts must be systematic, consistent, and comprehensive.

The government hopes for continued support from society and all elements of the nation to serve as positive energy in upholding integrity, enabling Indonesia to achieve governance that is clean, transparent, and just.
