The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of life for the people, especially in Papua, through the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. This initiative, led by President Prabowo Subianto, aims to enhance the nutrition of children across Indonesia, including in regions that have long faced challenges in food and education access. Through this program, the government strives to ensure that every child receives adequate nutrition to support their optimal growth and development. Moreover, MBG is part of the government’s broader strategy to create a healthier and more competitive generation.
The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, emphasized that the government will take firm action against those who threaten the implementation of this program. According to him, such threats are not merely disruptions to a social initiative but an act of defiance against the Republic of Indonesia that cannot be tolerated. In this regard, the state has an obligation to protect the interests of the people and ensure that every child’s right to nutritious food is not hindered by certain groups. Therefore, the government will collaborate with security forces to ensure the smooth distribution of MBG across all regions, including areas that may face obstacles.
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) remains dedicated to preparing and implementing the MBG program. The head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, stressed that his agency remains focused on the program’s success and will not be influenced by external factors. Any security threats will be handled by the authorities, namely the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), while BGN will ensure that nutritious food reaches the children who need it. This approach reflects strong synergy among various government entities in implementing policies that prioritize public welfare. With effective coordination between relevant ministries, the government ensures that the MBG program not only runs as planned but also continues to expand to reach more beneficiaries.
The Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, stated that the Free Papua Organization (OPM) would face direct confrontation with security forces if it threatens schools that benefit from the MBG program. This initiative is universal and applies across Indonesia, including in Papua, as a manifestation of social justice for all citizens. Therefore, any attempts to obstruct the program’s implementation will be dealt with according to the law. Hasan Nasbi reaffirmed that the government will not back down from carrying out policies designed to improve people’s quality of life. This highlights the state’s presence in ensuring that its citizens receive their fundamental rights, such as education and adequate nutrition.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin also emphasized that various political issues will not affect the implementation of MBG in Papua. He views this program as part of a humanitarian mission that must be carried out without interference from other interests. This aligns with President Prabowo’s vision, which prioritizes the well-being of the people. Through MBG, children in Papua are expected to grow healthier and have better opportunities to achieve a bright future. Additionally, MBG supports the government’s broader vision of improving human resource quality, which is a key factor in national development.
Beyond nutrition, the government is also committed to improving education in Papua. Quality education is one of the essential factors in building a better future generation. Through various supportive policies, the government strives to enhance access to and quality of education in Papua, allowing children in the region to compete with those in other parts of Indonesia. These efforts include providing school infrastructure, teacher training, and curricula tailored to local needs. The government is also collaborating with various stakeholders, including the private sector and international organizations, to ensure that educational programs in Papua run effectively and sustainably.
The MBG program is also supported by strengthening education on the importance of a balanced diet. The government recognizes that improving nutrition is not only about providing nutritious food but also about raising public awareness of healthy eating habits. Therefore, nutrition education campaigns continue to be promoted, especially in areas with high malnutrition rates. Through this approach, it is hoped that public awareness of good nutrition will increase, ensuring that children in Papua not only benefit from MBG but also develop healthier eating habits in the long run.
The MBG policy and educational improvements in Papua are tangible steps taken by the government to ensure the well-being of communities in the region. With full support from various government elements, this program is expected to run effectively and provide benefits for future generations. The government will continue to address existing challenges to realize the vision of a healthier and more advanced Indonesia. The sustainability of this program also reflects the government’s strong commitment to ensuring equal access for all Indonesian children, without exception. Through the spirit of mutual cooperation, the government and all societal elements can work together to create a better future for Papua and the entire nation.
