Jakarta- The Indonesian government continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to overseeing the acceleration of development in Papua through various strategic programs and cross-sector synergies. This commitment was emphasized by various government officials in a series of meetings and audiences held to ensure that development in the eastern region of Indonesia runs according to plan.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is fully committed to supporting the acceleration of development in Papua. Ribka emphasized that this acceleration of development is in line with the priority program of the central government which aims to improve the quality of life of the Papuan people.

“Today we can hold an audience, of course we have great hopes, especially for Indonesia in the eastern region, which has become the desire and program of the central government, how the acceleration of development occurs in Papua,” said Ribka Haluk.

She also hopes that this acceleration effort will continue to receive support from all related parties.

In line with that, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PU) Diana Kusumastuti explained that the Ministry of PU continues to seek concrete steps to accelerate development in Papua.

According to Diana, one of the important elements in the development process is the fulfillment of readiness criteria, which is a series of prerequisites that must be met before a development project can be implemented.

“The readiness criteria that we currently find from each province, namely Southwest Papua, South Papua, Mountainous Papua, and Central Papua, Alhamdulillah, it seems that everything is ready, everything is ready. This means that there is a basis for the assignment,” said Diana.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of Papua Ramses Limbong emphasized the importance of compiling the Papua Province Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for the 2025-2029 period as an initial step in realizing the vision of an advanced and sustainable Papua.

Ramses assessed that synergy between the central government, provincial government, and district and city governments is crucial in achieving the expected development goals.

“To realize this vision and mission, optimal synergy is needed between the Papua Provincial Government, the Central Government, and the District and City Governments. In addition, strengthening collaboration with stakeholders is very important,” said Ramses.
