SUKOHARJO – The government’s commitment to guaranteeing the rights of workers affected by the bankruptcy of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex) continues to be demonstrated through various concrete steps. One concrete form of this effort is the direct visit of the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli to the Sritex factory in Sukoharjo, Central Java. This step confirms that every worker who experiences termination of employment (PHK) has the right to receive their rights fairly and on time.
“We ensure that workers’ rights, including severance pay, Old Age Security (JHT), and Job Loss Security (JKP), can be disbursed without any obstacles,” said Yassierli.
The government is coordinating with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, the Curator Team, and labor unions to ensure that the disbursement of these rights runs smoothly. To date, most of the workers’ rights have been distributed, while the process of resolving the rest continues to be accelerated.
Support for workers also comes from the legislature. Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Obon Tobroni, emphasized that supervision of the disbursement of workers’ rights continues to be carried out so that there are no administrative obstacles.
“We have requested an acceleration of the disbursement process of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan funds so that all workers receive their rights before Eid,” said Obon Tobroni.
In addition to ensuring that workers receive their rights, the government is also trying to create long-term solutions for those who have lost their jobs. One of the steps taken is to encourage the entry of new investors to revive Sritex operations. With the presence of new investors, it is hoped that former Sritex workers can return to work and earn a stable income.
In addition to the economic aspect, attention is also given to the social aspect. The Head of the Sritex Workers Union, Rahmat Prabowo, appreciated the government’s steps in ensuring that workers’ rights remain protected.
“Synergy between the government, the DPR, and the workers’ union is the main key in ensuring workers’ welfare. We hope that this policy will be an example in resolving similar cases in the future,” concluded Rahmat Prabowo.
The bankruptcy of a large company like Sritex has a wide impact, both on workers and other industrial sectors. Therefore, the government continues to strive to maintain a balance between economic interests and labor protection. Reforming labor regulations is one of the main agendas in ensuring that workers’ rights remain protected in various uncertain economic situations. The successful resolution of the Sritex case is proof that good coordination between various parties can create effective solutions. With policies that favor workers, the stability of the national industry can continue to be maintained, while creating a business environment that is conducive to sustainable economic growth. [^]
