Aceh – The government affirms its commitment to continue to ensure that workers’ rights in Indonesia are fulfilled fairly and evenly. Through various strategic policies, the government seeks to improve workers’ welfare while creating a healthy, productive, and sustainable working climate.

The government has taken several concrete steps, including strengthening employment supervision, increasing vocational training programs, and expanding the scope of the Employment Social Security program.

In addition, the government also encourages companies to implement decent work principles that are in line with International Labor Organization (ILO) standards.

The government has stipulated workers’ or laborers’ rights in laws and regulations, such as Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower and Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. Both laws have undergone revisions that cover several important aspects, ranging from provisions on working hours, wages, to regulations on termination of employment (PHK).

Indonesia commemorates National Labor Day every May 1, an important moment that is not only a celebration for workers, but also a reflection on their social and economic conditions.

Deputy Chairman I of the Aceh Besar Regency People’s Representative Council (DPRK), Naisabur SKom, invited workers to use the momentum of International Labor Day which falls on May 1 as a means to fight for welfare, while maintaining security and order in society.

Naisabur stressed the importance of increasing attention to the welfare of workers in all sectors. According to him, workers are the main element in driving the wheels of development and the country’s economy.

“We must use the momentum of International Labor Day to encourage the creation of a healthy work climate. Workers have the right to receive a decent wage as part of their welfare, including health insurance and old age security,” said Naisabur.

Naisabur also appealed to workers to support the government’s efforts to fight for workers’ rights. He stressed that in the midst of uncertain global economic conditions, maintaining security stability is very important.

“While conveying aspirations in commemoration of Labor Day, I hope that workers will continue to maintain order and security together, and not be easily provoked by parties who want to create unrest,” Naisabur appealed.

Naisabur hopes that this year’s Labor Day commemoration will be a positive momentum, not only to demand rights, but also to strengthen the role of workers as part of the national development force.

The government realizes that workers’ welfare is directly proportional to national productivity. Therefore, improving the quality of life of workers is one of the main priorities in the sustainable development agenda.

Amidst global challenges and changes in the world of work due to digitalization and automation, the government also continues to prepare various adaptive regulations so that workers’ rights remain protected. This transformation is expected to open up more new jobs, while raising the standard of worker welfare in all sectors.

With full commitment and cooperation from all parties, the government is optimistic that the future of Indonesian workers will be brighter, in line with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
