Government Holds Retreat to Align Perceptions of People’s School Principals
Jakarta – The government is holding a special retreat for all People’s School Principals from various regions in Indonesia. This step was taken as part of an effort to align perceptions, increase synergy, and strengthen the commitment of leaders of informal education institutions who are at the forefront of the community education strengthening program.
In a social situation that continues to change and the increasing need of society for adaptive education, this retreat is an important momentum to strengthen the direction and collective spirit of the People’s School program throughout the country.
The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs (Kemensos), Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said that 53 People’s School Principals will undergo the first phase of the retreat for five days. The first phase of the retreat will start on June 16-20, 2025.
“This 5-day retreat activity is carried out to align the understanding of the principals. The government realizes the importance of providing a complete understanding of People’s Schools to principals who have been selected through a measurable mechanism,” said Gus Ipul.
Gus Ipul said that being a People’s School Principal is not just a position, but a great dedication to carrying out the state’s mandate. Meanwhile, the Second Phase of the Elementary School Principal Retreat will be attended by 47 participants which will be held on June 30, 2025.
This activity not only focuses on administrative and institutional strengthening, but also touches on spiritual aspects, leadership, and community service. With the increasing number of elementary schools being established in various regions, the need for harmonization of vision and understanding among school principals is becoming increasingly urgent.
Previously, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto conveyed the importance of education for all. The President wants to build superior Elementary Schools and improve educational facilities to remote areas.
“The Red and White Cabinet wants to break the chain of poverty by sending underprivileged people to the best schools,” said President Prabowo.
Therefore, this Retreat is used as a forum to strengthen networks between school principals, expand cross-regional communication, and encourage the exchange of good practices that have been proven successful in one region to be adapted in other regions.
By holding this retreat, the government reaffirms that education is the main foundation of national development, and that efforts to provide equitable and meaningful education must be carried out with a spirit of mutual cooperation.
