Government Involves Independent Institutions in MBG Implementation

Jakarta – To ensure the quality and transparency of the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG), the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) will collaborate with independent institutions to accredit the program’s implementation.

This initiative aims to monitor the quality of food produced by the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) and ensure that beneficiaries receive healthy and nutritious meals.

BGN Head, Dadan Hindayana, emphasized that accreditation will be conducted once the MBG program reaches 6 million beneficiaries and is operated by 2,000 SPPG units.

“Accreditation will be carried out accordingly. We will first implement the intervention until we reach the limit of 2,000 SPPG units serving six million people, which will last until August. As long as the number of SPPG units does not increase, we will proceed with accreditation,” said Dadan.

Dadan explained that the accreditation process would categorize food quality into several levels.

“The independent institution conducting the accreditation will classify food quality—those with the highest standards will be labeled as ‘excellent,’ the mid-tier as ‘very good,’ and the standard category as ‘good,'” he stated. With this accreditation, the quality of food in the MBG program is expected to improve and meet strict health standards.

To enhance transparency and program effectiveness, Arip Muztabasani, National Presidium of BEM PTNU se-Nusantara, urged the involvement of independent institutions in program supervision.

“As a solution, we encourage relevant parties to involve independent institutions in overseeing the program to prevent potential irregularities. Supervision must be tightened to ensure that no substandard food enters this program,” he stated.

The government remains committed to strengthening transparency in the MBG program’s implementation. Through accreditation and supervision by independent institutions, the quality of food will be better ensured.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s seriousness in ensuring that every beneficiary receives healthy, nutritious, and standard-compliant meals.

With synergy between the government, independent institutions, and the public, the MBG Program is expected to provide maximum benefits to those in need while preventing potential irregularities.
