Government Strengthens Infrastructure Support to Accelerate Food Self-Sufficiency

Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to realizing national food independence by strengthening the infrastructure sector as the main foundation. Efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency are not only about increasing agricultural production, but also about creating a supportive ecosystem from upstream to downstream. Adequate infrastructure is one of the keys to the success of all these efforts.

PT BGR Logistik Indonesia (BLI), a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI) and part of ID Food, has expressed its commitment to supporting the government’s program to absorb grain/rice through Perum Bulog. This support is realized through the readiness of warehousing infrastructure, adequate storage systems, and professional logistics management.

BLI Commercial and Operations Director, Indra Iliana said BLI plays an active role in preparing warehouse capacity spread across various strategic areas. Not only providing storage space, BLI also ensures that the warehouse management system runs efficiently and integrated, starting from recording, stock monitoring, to distribution to points of need.

“This step is part of BLI’s real contribution in maintaining national food stability. We are ready to be part of the national strategic supply chain, especially in maintaining the quality and quantity of rice absorbed by Bulog so that it remains in good condition until it reaches the community on time,” said Indra Iliana.

BLI plans to provide warehouses starting from 1,000 square meters with a capacity of 2,000 tons per warehouse. BLI also strengthens the digital monitoring system in the storage process to ensure that the quality of rice is maintained during the storage period. This collaboration not only supports national food security but also has a positive impact on farmers because their harvests are optimally absorbed.

In the era of digital transformation like today, many agricultural technology innovations can only be accessed if farmers have adequate internet connections. Therefore, the construction of telecommunication towers in rural areas is also part of the grand strategy of food self-sufficiency.

Elsewhere, Corporate Secretary of Perum Bulog Arwakhudin Widiarso supports the implementation of this policy.

“Hopefully this synergy can run smoothly as an effort by BUMN to support Food Self-Sufficiency in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita,” he said.

Through an integrated infrastructure development strategy, the government is not only responding to current food security challenges, but also laying a solid foundation for future generations.
