Government Targets Contribution of Downstream Projects to Sustainable Industrialization

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has received a report from the Downstream Task Force and several related ministries regarding investment developments in the downstream sector.
The meeting, which took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, outlined a number of strategic projects that will be developed to encourage industrialization and accelerate national economic growth.
Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, stated that the government is currently evaluating various downstream projects covering the mineral, coal, and agricultural and marine product sectors.
According to him, the assessment of these projects is not only based on economic aspects, but also considers their impact on job creation, increasing exports, and reducing imports.
“We from the Downstream Task Force and also all related ministries, including the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, have just reported to the President several projects that we will invest in, we will review them in downstream. We will see how these projects impact job creation, what impacts they have on exports, what the reduction in imports is like, and also the readiness of the funding,” said Rosan.
Rosan added that the government is targeting that the selected downstream projects will not only provide short-term benefits, but also contribute to sustainable industrialization.
Therefore, various stages of evaluation will be carried out to ensure that the investments made provide optimal results.
“In this panel later, all ministries will sit again to further detail the programs, the projects so that they can be feasible because this investment must also provide good returns, which are acceptable because this will be given a lot of funding, for example by Danantara,” explained Rosan.
In addition to the economic aspect, President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of the impact of downstream projects on job creation.
