Indonesia Is Not Dark: It’s Time to Safeguard Unity and Optimism for a Bright Future!

Jakarta – The spirit of unity and national optimism forms the crucial foundation for realizing Indonesia’s bright future. Amidst complex social dynamics and global challenges, national figures are calling for the importance of building collective optimism and a spirit of togetherness as key to addressing various national issues.

The spread of pessimistic narratives such as “Indonesia is dark” has prompted national figures to emphasize that the nation is actually on the path to revival. The global challenges we face should not be used as an excuse to succumb to fear. On the contrary, unity and optimism are the keys to guiding Indonesia towards a brilliant future.

Dr. KH. Marsudi Syuhud, MM, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), highlighted the importance of constructive narratives. “The ‘Indonesia is dark’ narrative arises when public expectations don’t align with reality, especially in times of economic pressure. But in our religious teachings, we are taught to build with a spirit of optimism and togetherness, not with fear or blame,” he emphasized.

He views President Prabowo Subianto’s approach, which emphasizes the balance between hopes and reality, as a step that should be supported.

“President Prabowo brings hope. He has strategically set national development priorities, in line with global dynamics that affect many countries, not just Indonesia,” said Marsudi.

President Prabowo has set structured national development priorities in response to global challenges affecting not only Indonesia but also other countries. His openness to criticism and input from various parties further demonstrates a strong commitment to deliberative democracy principles.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aditya Perdana, a political communication expert from the University of Indonesia, considers President Prabowo’s success in uniting various political forces as a strong foundation for national stability. “This is not only a political step but also a significant asset to accelerate development,” he explained.

Aditya also sees the President’s openness to criticism as a sign of political maturity. “His acknowledgment of weaknesses in public communication is a form of self-evaluation that shows commitment to a healthy democratic principle,” he said.

In this spirit, national figures are encouraged to continue emphasizing the importance of maintaining social harmony, preventing polarization, and strengthening the spirit of nationalism. Differences in opinion should serve as a space for constructive dialogue, not a trigger for division. Only through unity can Indonesia step forward towards a brighter, fairer, and more prosperous future for all its people.
