Jakarta – Indonesia is preparing to host the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) which will be held on 12–15 May 2025 at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

Through the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), the Indonesian House of Representatives has prepared a number of strategic agendas to be discussed in this international forum. One of the main issues that Indonesia will raise is collective support for Palestinian independence.

Member of the BKSAP of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Eva Monalisa, said that Indonesia wants to encourage strengthening solidarity from PUIC member states towards the struggle of the Palestinian people. “One of the main issues that Indonesia will raise is strengthening collective support from PUIC member states for Palestinian independence,” she said after meeting with the Palestinian Government delegation at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

Previously, the Indonesian House of Representatives had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the PUIC Secretariat General in February 2025 as an initial step in technical and logistical preparations for the implementation of this conference.

Responding to the readiness of the event, Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indra Iskandar, emphasized that the Indonesian House of Representatives is almost 100 percent ready to welcome this international conference. “In terms of planning, we are very ready. Today we are reconfirming the technical aspects with related agencies, starting from immigration, customs, Angkasa Pura, to AirNav,” said Indra.

He said that all technical aspects and substance of the event have been prepared thoroughly. A series of simulations and checks have also been carried out with the appointed Professional Conference Organizer (PCO), and the results have been reported to the Leadership.

The 19th PUIC Conference will discuss various strategic issues relevant to the global situation of Islamic countries, including the issue of Palestine as the main focus.

To date, 23 countries have confirmed their attendance with a total of 279 delegates confirmed to attend. This number is expected to increase, because several other countries have expressed interest in attending but have not yet given official confirmation.

“We estimate that there will be 500 to 600 participants, including delegates and representatives of international organizations,” added Indra.

The 19th PUIC Conference is planned to be opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Indra stated that this momentum is very important for Indonesia in strengthening inter-parliamentary diplomacy of Islamic countries, especially amidst increasingly complex global dynamics. []
