Indonesia to Host PUIC 2025: Strengthening Solidarity Among Islamic Nations

Jakarta — Indonesia has officially been appointed as the host country for the 2025 Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC). This appointment marks a significant opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen solidarity among the Islamic world.
Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mardani Ali Sera, stated that key issues to be addressed during the 19th PUIC Conference in 2025 will include the independence of Palestine and the empowerment of women.
Mardani outlined several key focus areas of the forum, including: promoting peace and harmony among OIC member states; enhancing tangible cooperation in economic, social, and cultural sectors among Islamic parliaments; and advocating for consolidation and concrete actions from OIC parliaments in support of the Palestinian people.
“Islamic solidarity must be continuously strengthened—not only through rhetoric but also through practical cooperation. This includes parliamentary diplomacy, policy support, and cross-sectoral programs,” he explained.
He further noted that, as the host country, Indonesia will also bring together influential leaders in the forum. Among them are the Prime Ministers of Singapore and Malaysia, who have been invited to share their experiences in implementing clean, effective, and resilient governance.
“We hope this can serve as a shared inspiration for building strong and inclusive institutions in the Islamic world,” he added.
Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, emphasized that hosting the PUIC conference is both an honor and a significant responsibility for Indonesia.
“We intend to use this forum as a momentum to strengthen solidarity among Islamic countries in addressing global challenges, while also reaffirming Indonesia’s role as a bridge for dialogue and cooperation among Islamic nations,” said Puan.
She also underlined the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving international conflicts, including the Palestinian issue.
The government and DPR RI have optimized preparations in all aspects of the event, including logistics, security, and substantive discussion programs.
This event is expected to become a pivotal moment for OIC member states to deepen their cooperation in addressing global challenges.
