Jakarta – Indonesia plays a key role in the success of the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF), an international forum that highlights global sustainability issues.

The forum, which will take place on 5-6 September 2024 in Jakarta, has attracted global attention because it brings together policy makers, experts, and investors from all over the world to build partnerships in the field of sustainability in order to accelerate the growth of the world’s green economy.

As the host, Indonesia not only provides a platform for global discussions, but also demonstrates its commitment to the sustainability agenda through various initiatives. Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), Rachmat Kaimuddin said that there were a number of green cooperation agreements signed in the forum.

Meanwhile, one of the things that was also discussed in ISF 2024 was related to the plan to export electricity from Indonesia to Singapore. After an agreement is reached, the Indonesian and Singaporean governments will immediately sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the sustainability forum.

“The value of this electricity export agreement could reach millions of United States (US) dollars,” said Rachmat.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan said that the 2024 ISF could produce several new ideas that could be followed up.

“We want to make the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum an annual agenda, an annual agenda that we hope can produce various ideas that can be followed up,” said Luhut.

The forum was attended by more than 1,000 participants from various countries, including prominent speakers, government officials, academics, and entrepreneurs. With an agenda covering topics such as climate change, renewable energy, and natural resource management, ISF 2024 offered in-depth insights and practical strategies to address sustainability challenges.

Indonesia also showcased its various projects and programs that have proven effective in addressing environmental issues. One of the main highlights was the ecosystem restoration program that successfully restored degraded forest areas and improved the welfare of local communities. This initiative demonstrated Indonesia’s leadership in sustainability practices that other countries can emulate.

In addition, ISF 2024 presents an exhibition of green technology and innovation that emphasizes smart and sustainable solutions. This exhibition provides an opportunity for Indonesian companies to showcase their environmentally friendly technologies and products, as well as expand their international business networks.

The success of ISF 2024 not only reflects Indonesia’s ability to organize large-scale international events, but also confirms the country’s position as a leader in the global sustainability movement. With solid support from various parties, Indonesia is committed to continuing to play an active role in efforts to create a greener and more sustainable future.
