KPU Continues to Monitor the Implementation of PSU to Remain Conducive
Jakarta – The General Election Commission (KPU) continues to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of the Election in Indonesia, including in the implementation of the Re-vote (PSU) in several regions. A number of concrete steps have been taken as proof of the success of the government and KPU in maintaining a conducive, fair, and democratic PSU process.
In Lampung Province, the local KPU actively supervises the implementation of the PSU in Pesawaran Regency as a form of synergy with the central KPU in ensuring national election standards. The Head of the Lampung Provincial KPU, Erwan Bustami, emphasized that the implementation of the re-vote and vote counting went well and smoothly.
“We ensure that every stage of the PSU runs on time and in accordance with applicable legal provisions. The entire process has been well administered and documented. This is a manifestation of our commitment to maintaining the integrity of the Pilkada,” said Erwan.
Similar steps were also seen in South Sulawesi, precisely in the PSU Pilkada of Palopo City. South Sulawesi KPU Commissioner, Hasruddin Husain, expressed his hope that this PSU will be an example of mature and quality democratic practices in South Sulawesi.
“This PSU is not just a ceremonial agenda. This is a representation of the purification of the democratic process. We want Palopo to be the best portrait of democracy that is carried out transparently and accountably,” said Hasruddin.
He also appreciated the involvement of all parties starting from the KPU RI, Bawaslu RI, DPR RI, to Forkompinda South Sulawesi and Palopo City who were also present and directly monitored the PSU process. This cross-institutional collaboration is considered a real form of support for a healthy and dignified democracy.
“All stages, starting from nominations, campaigns, quiet periods, to logistics distribution, have been carried out according to procedure. Today is a momentum to confirm the quality of the implementation of voting and vote counting. We hope that this process will run smoothly until the city-level recapitulation is complete,” added Hasruddin.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Bawaslu RI, Rahmat Bagja, also gave an optimistic statement regarding the conduciveness of the PSU, especially in Palopo City. He said that the Pilkada vulnerability index in the area showed a downward trend ahead of the PSU day thanks to the intensive supervision synergy between Bawaslu, security forces, and the community.
“We should be grateful that the situation ahead of the PSU is quite conducive. We must maintain this together so that there are no violations that harm the democratic process,” he said.
Bagja added that Bawaslu together with the police have been conducting surveillance patrols since the night before the PSU. The main focus of this supervision is to prevent the practice of money politics and various other forms of violations that can disrupt the credibility of the Pilkada results.
The implementation of the PSU which is orderly and safe in various regions shows that the KPU together with Bawaslu, security forces, and elements of society continue to maintain the dignity of Indonesian democracy. Cross-institutional collaboration and public participation are strong foundations in ensuring that every vote of the people is counted honestly and fairly.
With tight monitoring from various parties, the PSU is expected to be a momentum to strengthen public trust in the government and election organizing institutions that are increasingly professional and transparent.
