Labor Day Harmony, Officials Call for Social Order Key to National Stability

Jakarta – Ahead of the commemoration of International Workers’ Day or May Day on May 1, 2025, police officers in various regions have issued an important appeal to the public, especially workers, to make this moment a peaceful, orderly, and dignified celebration. This appeal is not only to maintain security, but also as part of a national effort to create social stability for the sake of realizing shared prosperity.
Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, in his statement emphasized the importance of maintaining the momentum of May Day this year as a means of conveying healthy and constructive aspirations. He emphasized that the commemoration of Labor Day is a democratic right of every citizen, but must be carried out in a responsible manner and not cause disturbances to public order.
“We must maintain the momentum of May Day as best we can. Do not let any security disturbances occur that could tarnish the image of this celebration. We encourage workers to convey their aspirations with enthusiasm and intelligence, including in a demonstration in front of Monas on May 1, 2025,” said Inspector General of Police Karyoto.
According to him, the crowd does not mean noise that damages the social order. He invited all elements of society to make the commemoration of Labor Day a means of strengthening unity and national spirit.
“Let’s maintain order, maintain conduciveness. This nation is great not because of its chaos, but because of its unity,” he added.
In line with that, the Central Java Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Ribut Hari Wibowo, also invited workers in his area to create a peaceful and orderly atmosphere of action. He said that the commemoration of May Day should be interpreted as a form of solidarity that supports welfare, not as an event for provocation or division.
“We appeal to the public, especially workers, to always increase their vigilance against potential infiltration by other parties who have different agendas. We want to ensure that the act of conveying aspirations remains pure and is not manipulated,” explained Inspector General of Police Ribut.
He also emphasized that the Police remain committed to overseeing all demonstration activities with a humanistic and professional approach.
“We will continue to monitor aspirations in a humane manner so that activities to convey aspirations can take place in a conducive manner,” he said.
This year’s Labor Day commemoration has a strategic dimension. In the midst of the government’s transition towards the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the spirit of collaboration between the community and the government is a crucial element in creating a policy direction that favors workers’ welfare.
The government has expressed its commitment to improving the standard of living of workers through various strategic programs, including job skills training, increasing social protection, and reforming employment regulations.
In this context, social stability is a primary prerequisite. Peaceful and well-organized labor action not only reflects the maturity of democracy, but also strengthens the bargaining position of workers themselves in social dialogue with the government and the business world.
Therefore, active participation of the community to maintain order during May Day is a form of shared responsibility to create a stronger and more prosperous Indonesia.
The security forces invite all components of the nation to make Labor Day 2025 a momentum for unity and proof that Indonesia is capable of voicing social justice without having to sacrifice public order.
“Let us make the commemoration of Labor Day a stage to show democratic maturity. Peaceful and responsible actions are a reflection of workers who are aware of their role as a force for national development,” he concluded.
