MBG Strengthens National Nutrition Resilience, 4.97 Million Beneficiaries Become Real Proof
JAKARTA – The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program continues to show a broad positive impact. Since it began to be implemented in stages, MBG has reached 4.97 million beneficiaries in 38 provinces. This program reflects the transformation of national nutrition policy that not only focuses on consumption, but also local economic empowerment and sustainable human resource development.
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, revealed that by mid-June 2025, more than 68 thousand workers had been involved in MBG operations. “More than 60 percent of the workforce are mothers aged 30 to 50 years, so they directly contribute to reducing extreme poverty,” said Dadan Hindayana.
With a community-based approach, the implementation of MBG involves local farmers, MSME actors, and public kitchens in various regions. Every day, thousands of women prepare healthy food for children and underprivileged families. This activity not only increases the nutritional intake of the community, but also strengthens the domestic food production chain.
Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, said that the budget for MBG has been carefully prepared by the central government. “In accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, the number of MBG recipients will be increased to 82.9 million in 2025, with the support of 32 thousand Nutritional Food Production Centers (SPPG). The Ministry of Finance has prepared an additional budget of IDR 100 trillion,” said Suahasil Nazara.
Regional governments also play an important role in the success of technical implementation in the field. Collaboration between the center and regions makes the distribution of nutritious food more even and on target. Children who previously came to school without breakfast can now enjoy a healthy menu prepared with local food ingredients.
The MBG program not only reduces the burden of family expenses, but also fosters a spirit of learning among students. Through a structured and mutual cooperation-based approach, MBG is a concrete step in preparing a healthy, intelligent generation of Indonesia that is ready to face 2045.
