Observer: Appreciate Jokowi’s Achievements and Support New Government Programs

Jakarta – As the current government’s term of office approaches its end, the national focus is on President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) achievements during his time leading Indonesia and the leadership transition process and implementation of the president-elect’s programs.

Stakeholders from various sectors also emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and ensuring a smooth transition for the sake of sustainable national development.

In the MetroTv Primetime News Dialogue, Tuesday (24/9), the Director of the School of Stategic and Global Studies (SKSG) of the University of Indonesia, Athor Subroto, said that the average economic growth of 5% is an extraordinary resilience of economic growth under President Jokowi’s administration.

“If we look at the stock market indicators, how they are developing now, they continue to approach the psychological level of almost 8000. This is an extraordinary development, our numbers are improving,” said Athor.

According to him, amidst the onslaught of global supply chain disruptions, Indonesia can still survive and grow compared to other countries, even compared to developed countries in Europe.

“We have become a country that is developing quite well because of the foundations that have multiplier effects, such as the downstreaming program to maintain the economic process that occurs internally so that the multiplier becomes bigger.

Mr. Jokowi, he continued, has great enthusiasm to grow the Indonesian economy.

“It was also responded well by the market, like it or not, in fact our numbers continue to improve. Our economy continues to improve,” he said.

Athor also said that President-elect Prabowo Subianto is targeting economic growth of 8 percent.

“That is an extraordinary spirit, this is the spirit that is welcomed by the market,” said Athor.

On the same occasion, Political Economy Observer/Academic at Bung Karno University, Faisyal Chaniago, said that President Jokowi’s government approach could be an example for President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

“With a soft approach, how to embrace all political competitors so that they are involved in his cabinet,” said Faisyal.

He expressed his appreciation to President Jokowi who has led for 10 years where his programs can be felt by the community, especially downstreaming which will be the largest income for Indonesia, and increasing people’s purchasing power.

“In addition, how to increase people’s purchasing power, so far President Jokowi has continued to maintain that,” he said.

Faisyal also invited the public to support the next government. He believes that the economic growth during President Jokowi’s era can be continued by Prabowo’s government.

Previously, on various occasions, President Jokowi continued to remind the importance of ensuring a smooth government transition going forward, in order to maintain national political stability and create a good image in the international world.

“Specifically, what we must pay attention to is political stability, this is important so that there is no political turbulence, so that the transition from the current government to the next government is smooth and good. That is what the international world always looks at,” said President Jokowi.

For your information, according to the stages of the Presidential Election, the Prabowo-Gibran pair will be inaugurated as President and Vice President on October 20, 2024.
