Papuan Traditional Figures Say MBG Program Creates Real Welfare
Papua– The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is an extraordinary breakthrough from the government that significantly improves the quality of human resources and the welfare of the Papuan people and the welfare of the community, received a positive response from various elements of Papuan society. Traditional leaders in eastern Indonesia consider this program as a real step that touches the basic needs of the community, especially children and the younger generation.
The Elseng Tribal Chief from Skanto District, Keerom Regency, Ismail Ulof expressed his belief that the government will soon implement the MBG Program in his area as a form of real concern for the local community. According to him, the presence of this program is very important for the local community, especially in ensuring the nutritional adequacy of children of Indigenous Papuans (OAP) which has so far been a major challenge in remote areas.
“We hope that the MBG Program can be implemented soon in Keerom Regency, especially in Skanto District. This program is very important to meet the nutritional needs of OAP children so that they grow up healthy and strong. With sufficient nutrition, we are sure that a superior young generation of Papuans will be born who are able to compete in the future,” said Ismail
He also emphasized the importance of the sustainability of this program so that it does not stop at just one period. With the continuity of the implementation of MBG, the results will be more pronounced in the long term, especially in shaping the character and competitiveness of the young generation of Papua. In addition, Ismail also supports the government’s efforts to build local human resources through education and skills development.
Meanwhile, from Sarmi Regency, similar support came from Billy Kreuw, Head of the Manirem Tribe in Keder Village, East Sarmi District. He appreciated the MBG program that has been running in his area because it has brought direct benefits to children and the community.
“The MBG program is very beneficial for our children. They get sufficient nutritional intake, which is very important to support their education and growth. We hope that this program can continue and be successful,” said Billy.
Furthermore, he assessed that pro-people government policies must continue to be supported by all levels of society, especially those targeting welfare in the economic, social, and cultural fields. He is also committed to continuing to invite indigenous people to support government programs that support the welfare of the Papuan people.
The support of these indigenous leaders is proof that the MBG Program is a strategic policy that is very relevant and has been proven to touch the needs of the people in a real and comprehensive way, but also has a place in the hearts of the people. With the active participation of all components, this program is expected to be able to create real change for the future of Papua. {}
