PBNU Apresiasi Pemerintah Cabut 4 IUP Tambang di Raja Ampat
JAKARTA – The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) expressed its high appreciation for the government’s move under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership to revoke four Mining Business Permits (IUP) in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua.
The policy is considered a progressive step in preserving nature and also ensuring the realization of justice in the management of natural resources in Papua.
PBNU Chairman Ulil Abshar Abdalla expressed his praise for the government’s assertiveness under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership. President Prabowo’s policy has shown the government’s seriousness in responding to aspirations coming from the community.
“I appreciate the Prabowo government which quickly took firm action to revoke the IUPs of four companies and provide even tighter supervision of PT Gag Nikel which is still operating there,” said Ulil.
For PBNU, the principle that we hold is that the management of natural resources, especially mining, must first be carried out with procedures that are in accordance with the rules and carried out to achieve public welfare
“The management of natural resources must continue to follow and comply with legal procedures, and be able to bring benefits to the public,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia explained that the revocation of the 4 IUPs in Raja Ampat was carried out after going through legal, historical, and factual verification in the field.
“Of the five IUPs, only PT Gag Nikel is still allowed to operate. The other four were revoked,” said Bahlil.
He said that the companies were legally different because they had a work contract status since 1998, with initial exploration starting in 1972.
The four companies whose permits were revoked were PT Anugerah Surya Pratama, PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa, PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining, and PT Nurham. The company is suspected of committing environmental violations and does not meet current legal standards.***
