People’s School Program Opens Job Vacancies for Teachers

Jakarta – The Ministry of Social Affairs is accelerating preparations for the implementation of People’s Schools by starting the teacher recruitment (selection) process. The selection process is in accordance with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 8 of 2025 concerning Optimization of the Implementation of Poverty Alleviation and Elimination of Extreme Poverty, one of the strategies is through the construction of People’s Schools.
Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), Robben Rico said the main requirement to take part in this selection is to be a graduate of the PPG organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture and to have a Teacher Professional Education (PPG) certificate.
“To fulfill the learning process in the People’s School, of course we both know, teachers are needed. As a stage of the appointment of the teacher, there needs to be a selection of prospective teachers,” said Robben in Jakarta.
He added that as many as 1,554 functional positions for first expert teachers will later be placed in People’s Schools spread across 100 locations in the first stage of implementation. The selection is carried out transparently and without any fees or free of charge.
“We will conduct additional selection to obtain the best teachers who will educate and supervise the children in this People’s School. Of course, the Ministry of Social Affairs will assist in the additional selection process,” he added.
Likewise, the Head of the People’s School Formation Team, Mohammad Nuh, said that his party was looking for and selecting teachers who were not only competent, but also had social empathy to teach at the People’s School.
“We want to know that teachers have social empathy, not just good academic competence,” said Nuh.
Meanwhile, Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul said that his party opened two recruitment options for teachers who will teach at the People’s School. The two options are teachers from the state civil apparatus (ASN) or teachers who have been certified in teacher professional education.
“These two options are still being developed,” said Gus Ipul.
Gus Ipul ensured that there was no gap in governance between the People’s School and other schools, because the management of the People’s School also collaborated with other ministries.
“Dikti also, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. So this is also a government school. The organizer is the government. So we work together,” he concluded.
