Prabowo-Gibran Administration Supports Creative Economy-Based MSMEs

Jakarta – The Prabowo-Gibran administration has shown a strong commitment to driving the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) based on the creative economy. With an economic growth target of 8 percent, the government is working to enhance the competitiveness of local products through various strategic policies and cross-agency collaborations.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized that MSMEs must become a subsector that is able to grow and advance. One of the efforts being made is strengthening cooperation with the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) to ensure product quality and competitiveness.
“MSMEs must be a creative economy subsector that can create broader job opportunities. Given the growing trend of labor-intensive creative economy, collaboration with BPOM will help small businesses upgrade and enhance product quality,” said Riefky.
Amid the intense competition due to the influx of imported products in online markets, MSMEs need sufficient regulatory support and policies. A member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives, Pandapotan Sinaga, emphasized the importance of a fair economic system capable of empowering communities.
“The government must accelerate efforts to develop MSMEs and the creative economy so that they are not overshadowed by cheap foreign products,” he said.
Furthermore, strengthening the MSME ecosystem must be supported by clear regulations and effective implementation. In Banten Province, for instance, Regional Regulation No. 02 of 2016 has served as the foundation for protecting and developing MSMEs. H. Wawan Sumarwan, a member of the Banten DPRD, emphasized the importance of regional regulations as a strategic guide in empowering MSMEs and cooperatives.
“Business success requires strong determination, focus, and perseverance. This regulation provides protection and enhances the competitiveness of small business owners and cooperatives,” he explained.
The government must also ensure that MSMEs have access to financing, training, and mentorship to survive in the face of global competition. BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar revealed that the agency has various programs to support MSMEs, such as the Wellness Festival and the Safe Food Village Program.
“BPOM is ready to support economic improvement through the supervision and certification of MSME products,” he said.
