Prabowo Outlines Policies for Economically Self-Reliant Indonesia, Foreign Exchange from Exports to Danantara
Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto explained the government’s strategic policies that have been realized, starting from the new Export Proceeds Foreign Exchange policy, gold bank, to Danantara Indonesia.
The policy for Indonesia to be independent or stand on its own two feet in the economic sector, Prabowo explained during the Inauguration of the Pegadaian Gold Bank Service and Bank Syariah Indonesia at The Gade Tower, Pegadaian Head Office, Wednesday (26/2) afternoon.
“The government that I now lead has implemented several strategic policies as an effort towards economic independence towards a safe, fair and prosperous Indonesia to stand on our own two feet,” said Prabowo.
First, Prabowo has signed the Policy in Government Regulation (PP) Number 8 of 2025, which was announced at a press conference at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, February 17, 2025, the obligation for export proceeds to be stored 100% in Indonesia for 12 months.
“First, on February 17, we announced the government’s policy to strengthen national economic resilience through the obligation to store Foreign Exchange from Natural Resource Exports (DHE SDA) domestically,” Prabowo explained.
“With this step, which will come into effect on March 1, our Foreign Exchange from Exports is estimated to increase by 80 billion US dollars in 2025 because starting March 1, it is estimated that in 1 year our foreign exchange will reach at least 100 billion dollars,” Prabowo explained.
Second, Prabowo is also grateful and proud of the birth of Danantara Indonesia (Daya Anagata Nusantara) which was also just launched on February 24, 2025.
“With gratitude and pride, we have launched an investment fund that we named Danantara Indonesia (Daya Anagata Nusantara) energy power, the power of Anagata is the future of the archipelago, namely our homeland. This fund with assets managed with a total of more than 900 billion US dollars will enable us to accelerate the development of our industry,” he added.
Today, Tuesday, Prabowo launched the first gold bank service in Indonesia which is expected to boost gross domestic product (GDP) by IDR 245 trillion and open 1.8 million new jobs.
“We hope that this will increase our gross domestic product, if I’m not mistaken, it can add IDR 245 trillion and then open 1.8 million new jobs,” said Prabowo.
With the gold bank service, gold processing from upstream to downstream will be more optimally carried out domestically. In addition, Prabowo said that the gold bank will also save the country’s foreign exchange and can be an instrument for controlling monetary stability through gold liquidity.
Prabowo continued that currently gold production in Indonesia has increased from 100 tons to 160 tons in a year. Therefore, now is the time to improve the service ecosystem to optimize gold reserves in this country.
“We hope this will accelerate savings and increase our gold reserves,” he said.
“Indonesia, which has the sixth gold reserve in the world, will have a gold bank for the first time. “I would like to thank all parties who worked hard to achieve this day,” said Prabowo.
