After celebrating Idul Fitri 2023 in Solo, Central Java, the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi) immediately headed to Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). It is known that he arrived at the Komodo airport (Airport) using the Presidential plane on Saturday 22 April 2023 yesterday at 19:00 WITA.

For information, President Jokowi’s arrival directly to Labuan Bajo for the umpteenth time was even carried out directly after he and his family celebrated Idul Fitri that morning because there was a personal agenda with the family. However, not only that, but in fact he also reviewed the readiness of a number of venues ahead of the 42nd ASEAN Summit which will be held in May 2023.

It is reported that the presence of the seventh Indonesian President is in Labuan 2023 to ensure the readiness of the ASEAN Summit Event. All of these things are of course proof of the strong commitment of the Government of Indonesia as Chair of ASEAN 2023 in providing the best treats for the guests of delegations from friendly countries with very thorough and optimal preparations.

How could it not be, because Indonesia itself has been trusted again to develop its tasks in the 2023 ASEAN Chair. This nation then carries a big theme, namely ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth’, in which Indonesia will continue to encourage the ASEAN region itself to become a center of economic growth stable in the midst of global uncertainty like today.

The existence of global uncertainty, especially in terms of the economy itself in 2023 has indeed been caused by several things at once, including from the prolonged impact after the COVID-19 pandemic which reduced the economies of all countries, then there were geopolitical conflicts from Russia and Ukraine to increase inflation rates and recession that poses a threat of stagflation in the world.

It’s not just checking the venue preparations in Labuan Bajo, but the Government of Indonesia is really showing its real work in continuing to oversee the succession of the 2023 ASEAN Summit Summit. This can be seen from President Jokowi who issued a Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the 2023 ASEAN National Chairperson Committee.

In Presidential Decree No. 5 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian National Chairperson Committee at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), it is true that the formation of a national committee has the aim of continuing to optimize all preparations for the holding of Indonesian Chairperson at the 42nd ASEAN Summit by involving all stakeholders. related interests or stakeholders.

Second, to prepare and determine the work plan and budget for the preparation and implementation of a series of activities for Indonesia’s Chair at ASEAN in 2023. Third, to prepare and organize the activities of the 42nd Summit and the 43rd ASEAN Summit as well as a series of other ASEAN meetings as well as possible. so that it can run safely, smoothly, and orderly.

Fourth, cooperate with other countries, international organizations, regional and other agencies for the smooth implementation of the activities of the Summit and other series of ASEAN meetings. Fifth, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the implementation of Indonesia’s Chairmanship in ASEAN in 2023.

It was also stated in Presidential Decree Number 5 of 2023 that the holding of a series of Indonesian Chairpersons in ASEAN in 2023 would consist of high-level conferences; ministerial level meetings and central bank governors; senior official level meetings; working group level meetings; side events program; and a series of other ASEAN meetings and activities

Furthermore, it was also emphasized in the Presidential Decree that the National Committee in carrying out its duties cooperates and/or coordinates with relevant ministries or agencies, local government (Pemda), private sector and other parties. The working period of the national committee starts from the date of the enactment of this presidential decree until December 31, 2023.

The Government of Indonesia continues to carry out maximum and optimal preparations for the ASEAN Summit 2023 which will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara Province. In fact, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo himself immediately made a return visit to the venue to really ensure how the region was prepared in entertaining all guests from delegation countries after he celebrated Idul Fitri with his family.
