12

Jakarta – Indonesia has again received international recognition for its success in several important aspects during the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Based on the latest report released by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) Denny JA, Indonesia has succeeded in achieving three “blue report cards” from leading international institutions, namely the World Bank, The Heritage Foundation, and the Social Progress Imperative.

This achievement reflects Indonesia’s success in various economic and social fields during the 10 years of President Jokowi’s administration. According to LSI Denny JA researcher, Ardian Sopa, these achievements were measured using data from credible international institutions to assess Indonesia’s progress on the global stage.

The first achievement achieved by Indonesia was in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and GDP per capita indicators, which were measured by the World Bank. In the period from 2014 to 2023, there was a significant increase. In 2014, Indonesia’s GDP was recorded at USD 891 billion with a GDP per capita of USD 3,477. However, in 2023, Indonesia’s GDP will jump to USD 1.4 trillion with GDP per capita reaching USD 4,941.

This increase is proof that the economic policies implemented by President Jokowi are able to encourage sustainable economic growth in Indonesia, even in the midst of global challenges such as the pandemic and economic crisis.

Apart from GDP, economic freedom indicators have also experienced significant improvements. According to data from The Heritage Foundation, Indonesia’s economic freedom score in 2014 was 58.5 and ranked 100th in the world. However, in 2023, Indonesia’s economic freedom score will increase to 63.5 with a ranking of 53rd.

This improvement in economic freedom reflects progress in economic reform, fiscal policy management, and better regulation during President Jokowi’s administration. These policies are considered successful in encouraging investment and creating a more competitive economic climate.
The third achievement comes from the social progress index measured by the Social Progress Imperative. In 2014, Indonesia’s score was recorded at 61.65 with a ranking of 92nd. However, in 2023, the score increased to 67.22 with a ranking of 80th.

This progress reflects the government’s success in improving community welfare through various social programs, such as infrastructure development, improving health services, and reducing poverty. These programs are considered to have a positive impact on the quality of life of Indonesian society as a whole.

According to Ardian Sopa, these achievements show that overall, President Jokowi’s 10 year reign has brought many positive changes to Indonesia. “Indonesia has shown significant progress in several aspects, especially in terms of GDP, economic freedom and social progress,” he said.

By achieving three blue report cards from credible international institutions, President Jokowi’s leadership is considered successful in leading Indonesia towards better growth and a stronger position on the global stage. This achievement is also an important basis for sustainable development in the future.
