President Prabowo Reaffirms Indonesia’s Commitment to Strengthening the Islamic World at the 19th PUIC Inauguration

Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, reaffirmed Indonesia’s strong commitment to strengthening solidarity within the Islamic world and building a better Islamic civilization for the future. He conveyed this in his opening speech at the 19th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held in Jakarta.
In the forum attended by parliamentary representatives from OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) member states, President Prabowo expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Indonesia to host the assembly, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of PUIC’s founding.
“This union of Islamic parliaments was born out of a shared awareness that the Islamic world needs a platform for legislative collaboration to face global challenges and defend the interests of Muslims worldwide,” President Prabowo stated.
He also reiterated Indonesia’s consistent position in supporting the Palestinian cause. According to him, support for Palestine is not merely a political stance, but a moral and humanitarian obligation.
“Indonesia will continue to stand with Palestine. This struggle will only grow stronger if we, the Islamic world, can unite. Let us overcome our differences and focus on the well-being of Muslims and the future of Islamic civilization,” he emphasized.
On the same occasion, President Prabowo outlined Indonesia’s major national agenda aimed at strengthening its domestic foundations as a concrete contribution to global stability. This agenda includes political and bureaucratic reforms, development of human capital, food and energy self-sufficiency, and mastery of science and technology.
“We believe that solutions to many of the world’s problems begin within our own nations. Therefore, we are committed to undertaking a major transformation for a more self-reliant and sovereign future,” said the President.
Also speaking at the event, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Chair of the 19th PUIC General Assembly, Puan Maharani, emphasized the strategic role of PUIC in shaping a more just and inclusive global order.
“For the past 25 years, PUIC’s legacy has been defined by its achievements and the path we choose for the future. Let us use this forum to strengthen PUIC’s role and guide the course of global transformation for the better. Unity is the fundamental foundation of the Islamic world’s strength,” said Puan.
The inauguration of the 19th PUIC serves as a significant moment for Indonesia to reaffirm its strategic role as the largest democracy in the Islamic world, ready to actively contribute to strengthening solidarity among Muslim nations and addressing global challenges collectively.
With a spirit of unity, President Prabowo called on the Islamic world to stand together, empower one another, and become a positive force in fostering global peace and justice.
