Jakarta – LP3ES Executive Director, Fahmi Wibawa, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has sufficient capital to combat corruption. The statement was delivered in a public discussion themed “Critical Evaluation of 100 Days of Prabowo’s Government: Political Field and Corruption Eradication.”

Fahmi assessed that Prabowo has the opportunity to eradicate corrupt practices in Indonesia. He hopes that this step can be realized, especially since Prabowo has consistently emphasized his commitment to combating corruption.

“Prabowo has considered corruption to be a disease, stage 4 cancer, a very damaging disease for our country. So then anything is done to save this disease. That is the mindset of the President on various occasions he has conveyed,” he said.

“Then he also said that it must start from, like fish, fish that are by nature start from the head. So those who are corrupt, corruptors and all that, yes, the head must be seen and observed first,” he continued.

Previously, in his speech before high-ranking state officials at the State Palace, President Prabowo said that corruption is a serious threat to national development and the welfare of the people.

“Corruption is a common enemy that we must fight firmly. There must be no tolerance for anyone who is proven to have harmed the country. We must build a clean, transparent, and responsible government,” said President Prabowo firmly.

The President also instructed all ministries and government institutions to strengthen the monitoring and accountability system. One of the concrete steps that will be taken is to accelerate the digitalization of public services to minimize the potential for abuse of authority.

In addition, the President emphasized the importance of cooperation with law enforcement agencies, including the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Police, and the Attorney General’s Office, to ensure that the legal process runs without discrimination.

“We must provide full support to law enforcement agencies in carrying out their duties. All must obey the law without exception,” he added.

In accordance with Prabowo’s instructions, the KPK and the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in efforts to eradicate corruption.

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said that this collaboration aims to strengthen coordination between the two agencies in eradicating corruption systematically and sustainably.

“The signing of this MoU is a real manifestation of a joint commitment in preventing and prosecuting corruption. We are confident that this collaboration will increase the effectiveness of eradicating corruption in Indonesia,” said Setyo.
