President Prabowo’s Inauguration of Oil and Gas Projects Affirms Commitment to Energy Self-Sufficiency

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated two strategic national oil and gas (migas) projects as part of the government’s major steps in achieving energy self-sufficiency.
The inauguration, which was held at one of Indonesia’s oil and gas production centers, is a sign of the government’s seriousness in boosting domestic energy production to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen national energy security.
President Prabowo stated that these two projects are important milestones in the nation’s journey towards energy independence. He emphasized that achieving energy self-sufficiency is not only an economic issue, but also a matter of national sovereignty.
“These two projects will save the country tens of billions of US dollars. We will no longer be pouring hundreds of trillions of rupiah abroad just to buy energy. This is a big step to ensure that Indonesia truly stands on its own two feet in terms of energy,” said President Prabowo.
The inaugurated project is located in a strategic working area that is expected to significantly increase the volume of national oil and gas production. This exploration and production activity is also expected to provide a multiplier effect, such as job creation and increasing the capacity of domestic supporting industries.
Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Djoko Siswanto, revealed that the successful commencement of production in these two fields was the result of solid cooperation between the government, BUMN, and foreign and domestic investors.
“This shows that Indonesia is serious about building a healthy, transparent, and competitive energy investment ecosystem. We will continue to maintain this conducive investment climate for the sustainability of the national oil and gas sector,” Djoko explained.
Meanwhile, Energy Economics Observer from Padjadjaran University, Yayan Satyakti, welcomed the inauguration of this project as a concrete step to strengthen the national energy supply.
“Diversification of energy supply is very important. Increased domestic production will reduce dependence on imports and maintain the stability of the trade balance. The government is on the right track towards energy self-sufficiency,” he explained.
The government is committed to continuing to accelerate the development of energy infrastructure and exploration of new sources of oil and gas, including the use of environmentally friendly technology to ensure sustainability.
Through the momentum of the inauguration of this project, the government hopes that all levels of society can support national policies in the energy sector.****
