Red and White Village Cooperative, the Backbone of the People’s Economy

Jakarta – In the midst of efforts to strengthen the economic foundations from the lowest level, the government is rolling out the Red and White Village Cooperative program as part of a grand strategy to build community independence.
Initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, this program targets the formation of 80 thousand cooperatives in all villages and sub-districts in Indonesia, with support from various ministries and local governments.
The Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas, expressed his full support for the acceleration of the legalization of cooperatives through facilitating the establishment of legal entities.
“I hope that friends who participate in paralegal training and inspector training can be our attention. The task of the Ministry of Law is related to the establishment of legal entities. There are several stages. Some go through an initial process where there must be a name registration and then enter the establishment,” he said.
He also appealed to the ranks of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in the regions to collaborate with the Notary Association to speed up the legalization process.
“I am sure and believe the target at the end of this month in July. Hopefully the 80,000 target can be met,” he said.
Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that there are 18 ministries/institutions that have been specifically assigned by the President to handle the establishment of the Red and White Cooperative.
“Alhamdulillah, as of yesterday we went around Indonesia and have completed more than 78 thousand villages. It’s calmer, only 2% left. God willing, it will be finished in the next week,” he said.
Meanwhile, at the regional level, a member of the Kapuas Regency DPRD, Central Kalimantan, Abdurahman Amur, expressed his appreciation for the formation of the Merah Putih Cooperative. He hopes that the presence of the community-based cooperative can provide great benefits in improving people’s welfare and become a driving force for the local economy.
“We really appreciate the formation of the Red and White Cooperative in all villages and sub-districts in Kapuas,” said Abdurahman
He views this program as a real form of comprehensive community empowerment which must be carried out seriously.
“Hopefully, this cooperative will truly run according to its function and not just in name,” he stressed.
He hopes that cooperatives can be a gateway that expands community access to business capital, entrepreneurial assistance, and marketing of local products. That way, the Red and White Cooperative can be an important instrument in encouraging economic growth based on village potential.
