Rejecting “Indonesia Gelap Jilid 2” Action: The Government is Working for the People

Jakarta – The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously working for the welfare of the people and maintaining national stability, in response to various speculations and movements that could potentially disrupt Indonesia’s social and political order.
Regarding the issue of “Indonesia Gelap Jilid 2,” Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi urged students to be more discerning in understanding the government’s budget efficiency policies under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, emphasizing that no budget cuts have been made in the education sector.
“It is simply not true that budget efficiency measures impact education, especially for students. The Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) program, scholarships from the Indonesian Education Institute (IPI), and the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) program are all still running as usual,” stated Prasetyo.
Prasetyo also highlighted the importance of constructive criticism toward the government. He acknowledged that while student demonstrations are a legitimate part of freedom of expression, criticisms should aim to foster improvements rather than spread negative energy that could hinder national progress.
“The government will always welcome input because, for us, such input serves as a valuable correction. What matters is the spirit behind it—it must be constructive,” he added.
Responding to the renewed calls for the “Indonesia Gelap Jilid 2” demonstration by certain groups, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal stressed that the government is actively addressing public demands and striving for improvements. According to him, criticism of government performance is a normal aspect of democracy, but it should be delivered in a constructive manner.
“The government is already working. The demands have been answered by the actions of President Prabowo,” Cucun asserted.
Cucun, a politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB), stated that while he does not oppose demonstrations, he believes criticism should be constructive and follow proper mechanisms. He warned against excessive demands, especially those that involve unconstitutional efforts such as calls for the impeachment of President Prabowo, which have been mentioned in discussions surrounding the protest.
“Criticism is fine, but it should not be excessive to the point of leading in that direction. There is a proper mechanism in place,” he added.
The government will continue to monitor developments closely and take necessary measures to ensure order and security throughout Indonesia. Maintaining national peace and stability remains a top priority that cannot be compromised.
