Safe PSU Shows Commitment to Upholding Democratic Ethics

Jakarta – The revote (PSU) held in several regions after the Constitutional Court (MK) decision went smoothly and conducively. This is a reflection that the Indonesian nation continues to strengthen its commitment to upholding the ethics and values of democracy. The PSU is not just an administrative process, but an important momentum in the consolidation of democracy and proof of the political maturity of all elements of the nation.
Member of the General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI), Iffa Rosita, emphasized that the implementation of the PSU is an important marker that the democratic process in Indonesia continues to progress. She said that the KPU RI invites all candidate pairs (paslon) and their supporters to accept the results of the PSU with an open and generous attitude as a form of maturity in politics.
“The integrity and neutrality of the election organizers must continue to be maintained. This is the key so that the PSU results can be accepted by all parties without being disputed again. If that can be realized, then we show that our democracy is increasingly mature,” said Iffa.
According to him, the peaceful implementation of the PSU shows that democracy does not stop at voting, but also includes the attitude of accepting the results, especially when the results are not in accordance with the expectations of all parties.
In line with that, the Chairman of the Central Sulawesi DPRD, HM Arus Abdul Karim, said that the implementation of the PSU in his region was orderly, safe, and smooth. He appreciated the security forces, election organizers, and community participation who maintained conduciveness during the re-implementation of this democratic process.
“A safe PSU is real proof that we can practice democracy ethically. I appeal to all candidates and their supporting teams to be sporting and not to take actions that could trigger chaos. A good democracy is a mature democracy,” he said.
On the other hand, KPU Member of North Gorontalo Regency, La Radi Eno ensured that the implementation of the Pilkada after the PSU was in accordance with applicable provisions. He emphasized that the KPU is committed to running the process professionally, transparently, and accountably.
“The implementation of the PSU is part of our responsibility to ensure that the people’s voting rights are accommodated fairly and legally,” he stressed.
Support for the importance of an attitude of acceptance and acceptance of the PSU results also came from the Chairman of the Kutai Kartanegara Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Management, KH. Muhammad Askin. He considered that the PSU should be an event to reunite the community after going through a period of political competition.
“All people should accept the results of the PSU openly and uphold democratic values. It is time for us to prioritize common interests, maintain brotherhood, and unite again. A healthy democracy is a democracy that can unite, not divide,” he said.
KH. Askin also emphasized the importance of maintaining brotherhood and making PSU a lesson in building a better future for the region and nation.
In this way, the community is expected to continue the struggle to maintain social and political stability in order to realize inclusive and sustainable development. It is time to strengthen brotherhood, uphold national values, and together advance the region as a manifestation of true love for the homeland.*
