Jakarta – The government’s efforts to eradicate online gambling or online gambling continue to show significant results. The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) announced that it has frozen more than 5,000 accounts affiliated with online gambling activities with a transaction value of more than Rp600 billion.

PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana stated that the blocking of the accounts was part of a broader law enforcement commitment.

“The law enforcement process that has been and will be carried out aims to save society from the trap of online loans (pinjol), narcotics, fraud, prostitution, and even the destruction of households due to dependence on online gambling,” he said.

Ivan also emphasized that addiction to online gambling often triggers other criminal acts, such as theft and fraud, in order to fulfill the need to gamble.

He added that PPATK continues to encourage collaboration between institutions in creating a national financial system that is free from money laundering practices and illegal gambling activities.

According to him, the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Movement (Gernas APU/PPT) is a strategic instrument in narrowing the room for movement of perpetrators of financial crimes.

“Gernas APU/PPT is believed to be one of the effective strategic instruments to close the room for perpetrators of crimes to financial laundering and strengthen the integrity of the national financial system,” Ivan emphasized.

In a separate place, the Subdit Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya also managed to arrest two people with the initials DO and J who are suspected of being the managers of an online gambling site in the Cambodian network called M RP TI55. The two suspects were arrested at a restaurant on Jalan Arief Rahman Hakim, Medan City, on Wednesday, April 24, 2025 at around 22.30 WIB.

“The team managed to secure two perpetrators who are suspected of being online gambling admins,” said Head of Sub-Directorate of Mobile Brigade AKBP Resa Fiardi

This disclosure began with a cyber patrol carried out by the police on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

From the search results, a gambling site was found offering casino games and soccer betting, as well as a number of Ovo digital accounts and wallets belonging to the managers.
