In the journey of Indonesian democracy, Re-voting (PSU) is one of the important mechanisms to ensure that every election process is honest, fair, and transparent. PSU is not a sign of democratic failure, but rather proof of the nation’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the general election. In this context, the public’s attitude in accepting the results of the PSU is a reflection of political maturity that should be appreciated and continuously strengthened.
As conveyed by Member of Commission II of the Banjarbaru City DPRD, Emi Lasari, the implementation of the PSU which has been running in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations must be respected by all parties. Emi emphasized that all stages of the PSU have been carried out with the principles of honesty and justice. Therefore, it is hoped that there will be no more lawsuits that can worsen the atmosphere after the PSU. She emphasized the importance of the community to join hands, put aside differences, and unite again to build the country.
According to him, this PSU is a long and quite tiring process. This is our shared homework to be able to unite again, for a more advanced Indonesia. He also reminded that differences that continue to be maintained will only hinder national development. Therefore, an attitude of acceptance and respect for the results of the PSU is the main key in creating a peaceful and productive atmosphere.
A similar attitude was also conveyed by the Secretary of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Sunggono. He appealed to all elements of society to accept the PSU results with an open heart and maintain order. According to him, a positive attitude in responding to the election results will be a strong foundation for creating a conducive atmosphere. Sunggono also emphasized that the recapitulation of PSU votes must be carried out transparently and fairly, so that the public will increasingly believe in the democratic process that is being built.
Whatever the outcome, all parties must respect the decision made for the common good. This statement shows the importance of prioritizing national interests above personal or group egos and ambitions. Maturity in accepting the results of the PSU is a reflection of the quality of mature democracy, where all parties are able to prioritize the unity and integrity of the nation.
Support for the mature attitude of the community in democracy also came from the Chairman of the South Sumatra KPU, Andika Pranata Jaya. His party appreciated the conducive conditions during the implementation of the PSU in Empat Lawang Regency, South Sumatra. The absence of security disturbance issues as had occurred in previous regional elections is an indication that the community increasingly understands the true meaning of democracy.
Andika assessed that a peaceful and cool attitude in facing political dynamics is a positive signal that needs to be maintained. According to him, this phenomenon is a good example of democratic life in Indonesia. Andika also appealed to the public to leave their differences and return to building unity after the PSU. This message is in line with the spirit of Pancasila democracy which prioritizes deliberation, unity, and mutual cooperation.
This post-PSU moment is a golden opportunity for the Indonesian nation to show the world that the maturity of our democracy is getting stronger. The government and all election organizing institutions have worked hard to ensure that every stage of the PSU takes place fairly and transparently. Now, the responsibility lies on our shoulders as citizens to respect the results and move forward together.
As a great nation, we must understand that differences in political choices are a natural thing in a democracy. However, after all the processes have been passed and decisions have been made, there is no reason to continue to exacerbate these differences. In fact, this is where the true test of political maturity lies, namely being able to reunite in a spirit of brotherhood, prioritizing the interests of the nation above all else.
A healthy democracy is not only measured by how many elections are held, but also by how its people respond to the results. Maintaining order, respecting joint decisions, and actively rebuilding unity after elections are signs that our democracy is maturing.
Respecting the results of the PSU is not only a form of respect for the law and election organizers, but also proof of our maturity in viewing democracy as a means of peacefully managing differences. Democracy is not just about winning and losing, but about a shared commitment to building a better future for the nation.
This post-PSU momentum should be a turning point for all of us to show democratic maturity. It is the responsibility of all of us, from the political elite to the common people to show that this nation has matured in democracy. A mature nation is a nation that is able to accept differences, manage disappointments, and reunite to pursue common goals.
The government has set an example by encouraging the implementation of honest, fair, and legal PSU. Now is the time for the public to show a similar attitude. Do not let differences in political views divide the unity that has been built with great difficulty. National development demands social and political stability that can only be achieved if all parties unite and respect each other.
