Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto’s plan to abolish the outsourcing system has received positive responses from various sectors, especially labor unions and members of parliament.

Mirah Sumirat, President of the All-Indonesian Workers’ Union (Aspirasi), highlighted that the current practice of outsourcing has deviated from the original provisions of Law Number 13 of 2003.

“Law Number 13 of 2003 includes a clause related to outsourcing. It states, more or less, that only five types of jobs can be outsourced. These are security, mining, cleaning, drivers, and catering,” she explained.
She also expressed regret over the changes in regulations that expanded the types of jobs eligible for outsourcing.
“Outsourcing was changed to ‘alih daya’ (outsourcing), which is essentially the same term. The only difference now is that it applies to all types of jobs,” she added.

Mirah also pointed out the layered practices between companies that harm workers, from wage cuts to the loss of social security access.

Meanwhile, Ristadi, President of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPN), also voiced his objections.
“Our reason for rejecting the outsourcing system is that workers do not have a direct employment relationship with the employer, so if an accident occurs, they do not receive protection from the direct employer,” he said.

Separately, Charles Honoris, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), also welcomed President Prabowo’s intention.
“We welcome the president’s commitment to abolish the outsourcing system, as long as it is aimed at protecting job security and workers’ welfare in Indonesia. This is in line with the aspirations voiced by labor groups,” he emphasized.

With the support of labor unions and the parliament, the proposal to abolish outsourcing is gaining momentum as a strategic step to improve the national labor system.
