Support WWF, FH Unmas and the Bli Braya Foundation for Real Action to Preserve the Water Resources Environment
Denpasar, – World Water Forum (WWF) is a world forum that focuses on preserving the existence of water and continuously discussing the problems faced by water from time to time.
This was conveyed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mahasaraswati University (Unmas) Dr. Kt. Sukawati Lanang P. Perbawa, SH, M.Hum., on the sidelines of social service for around 200 students and lecturers who were also supported by the NGO Bli Braya around 50 people at Lake Buyan, Pancasari village, Buleleng, Saturday 18 May 2024.
At the 10th WWF event, this time it will be held in Bali, 18 – 25 May 2024. According to Lanang, there must be real support from the Balinese people, because this activity is very profitable for Bali, firstly from a tourism perspective, it is proven that Bali is always chosen as a first-class destination worthy of activities at the level of heads of state. Second, Bali itself is a water destination, because it has many springs, a number of lakes, rivers and is surrounded by calm seas and also large wavy seas.
So for Bali, water is the main issue because in their daily lives, Balinese people really need not only clean water, but also holy water which is used in religious life.
Because of this, Balinese people should always take positive environmental activities to protect water sources, one of which is by cleaning up rubbish and protecting it from pollution. “More real action is needed in preserving this. “In accordance with the Balinese ancestral concept, namely danu kerthi, segara kerthi, wana kerthi and jagad kerthi.”
So WWF’s activities are in line with the virtues of the Balinese people who continuously throughout their lives in a form of culture based on Hinduism, use water as a means of purification.
“And if WWF is now held in Bali,” said this white-haired man, Anang, “the Balinese people must also be more aggressive in looking for solutions to water problems, so that in the future evenly in Bali, the people will have access to water sources, whether for rice fields, livestock and also to meet the living needs of the community.”
The FH Unmas and Bli Braya community service event was also filled with joint prayers, the handing over of punia to the temple and its stakeholders, followed by cleaning activities in the temple and temple area and finally providing legal counseling for residents at Candi Emas Pancasari High School.
According to Lanang, the aim of this activity is also to carry out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, to make WWF a success, “And coincidentally today is Tumpek uye/kandang where our local wisdom is respecting animals, and here it is filled with symbolically releasing the 11 birds at Ulun Danu Temple as well as releasing fish seeds. 20 thousand head in Lake Buyan.”
This also carries out the concept of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali in this case Danu Kerthi, Segara Kerthi, Wana Kerthi and Jagad Kerthi. In accordance with the WWF conference, we protect and maintain water and springs along with their ecosystem, namely trees and surrounding forests. This is in line with UNESCO’s honoring of Bali, namely Tukad Pakerisan, Batur, Jati Luwih and Taman Ayun which are also water sources in Bali.
