Jakarta – The Asset Confiscation Bill has been officially proposed for inclusion in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) after being revised. This bill will be a House of Representatives (DPR) initiative, marking a concrete step in legal reform and realizing the aspirations of the 17+8 Movement.

The Chairman of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives, Bob Hasan, in a working meeting with the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, stated that the Asset Confiscation Bill was included in the three bills proposed by the House of Representatives initiatives proposed to be included in the 2025 Priority Prolegnas, in addition to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bill and the Industrial Area Bill.

“Yes, 2025, and this remains a DPR initiative. So, asset confiscation is no longer a matter for debate within the government or anything else, but rather within the DPR, and it’s included in 2025,” said Bob Hasan.

Bob aims to finalize the Asset Confiscation Bill this year, despite only a few months remaining. He emphasized that discussions should not be merely a formality but should also allow for meaningful public participation.

“The target is to have everything sorted out this year, but then, to be meaningful, we need to ensure meaningful public participation. The entire public must know the full extent of the asset seizure,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, expressed the government’s full support for the proposal.

“The government agrees to the DPR’s initiative proposal regarding the three bills mentioned above for inclusion in the 2025 Prolegnas evaluation. So, the bill on Asset Confiscation, thank you,” he said.

He added that the government is ready to discuss the substance of the bill intensively with the DPR.

“The government is actually ready, and today we must express our utmost appreciation to the House of Representatives (DPR) for fulfilling its promise to take over the drafting of the Asset Confiscation Bill. We can share the academic text and the draft bill’s materials later,” he said.

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Nasir Djamil, welcomed the handover of the discussion of this bill to his commission.

“Of course, if the Legislation Body’s stance and statement is that the plan to discuss the Asset Confiscation Bill can be submitted to Commission III, the leadership and members of Commission III will certainly be ready to carry out that task,” he said.

He added that the draft bill’s contents would be discussed in depth by the working committee, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.

“This will be discussed in the working committee. The important thing is to have the will first, so that President Prabowo’s hopes can be followed up by the lawmakers, in this case the DPR,” he concluded.
