Through the PUIC Forum, Indonesia Urges OIC Member States to Unite for Peace

Jakarta — Indonesia will host the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) from May 12 to 15, 2025, at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, described the occasion as both a great honor and a significant responsibility for Indonesia.
“We aim to use this forum as a momentum to strengthen solidarity among Islamic countries in facing global challenges, while reaffirming Indonesia’s role as a bridge for dialogue and cooperation among Muslim nations,” stated Puan.
Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the DPR RI, Mardani Ali Sera, emphasized that the forum has been carefully prepared and will focus on strategic issues relevant to the Islamic world.
“This is both an honor and a major responsibility for Indonesia to host the 19th PUIC Conference, especially as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of PUIC, established in 1999,” he noted.
He asserted that the forum is not merely ceremonial, but is expected to deliver tangible outcomes.
“We aim to ensure that this conference is successful, substantive, and yields concrete impact in strengthening solidarity within the Islamic world,” Mardani stated.
He further added that Indonesia will also address several pressing global issues during the forum.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of BKSAP from the Golkar Party, Ravindra Airlangga, highlighted the significance of the PUIC forum as a platform for uniting Islamic countries in promoting global peace.
“Conflicts in various regions, particularly in Palestine, are no longer just political issues—they have become matters of global humanitarian concern. Islamic countries must not remain silent. We must unite to push for an end to violence and prioritize peaceful solutions,” said Ravindra.
He stressed that diplomacy should be the primary instrument for OIC member states.
“We must not allow violence and aggression to dominate the discourse in conflict resolution. The Islamic world must take the lead in upholding international law and human rights,” he affirmed.
According to Ravindra, parliaments possess both moral and political power to advocate for peaceful resolutions.
“We will continue to voice this stance in various global forums,” he concluded.
