Tolikara Traditional Leaders Urge Residents to Reject Demonstrations and Anarchic Actions
Tolikara – A wave of calls for maintaining security and order has once again echoed from Papua. Traditional leaders in Tolikara Regency emphasized the importance of distancing the public from calls for demonstrations and anarchic actions that could potentially harm the common good. This appeal stems from a collective commitment to maintaining Tolikara as a peaceful and harmonious city of the gospel.
Tolikara traditional figure, Victor Kogoya, emphasized that the community should not be influenced by issues that could damage regional unity and peace.
“I urge and invite all Tolikara residents to remain unaffected by the current rumors of demonstrations. Let’s keep the gospel city of Tolikara safe and peaceful,” said Victor Kogoya.
This statement serves as a reminder that social stability in Papua can only be maintained through a wise response to various forms of information. The presence of traditional leaders who voice messages of peace provides strong moral support to prevent the public from being swept away by provocation.
A similar appeal came from the tribal chief representing the Okbibab and Okbab districts, Yosef Mimin. He emphasized that residents in his area are not permitted to participate in activities that could cause unrest.
“I urge all residents of the two districts not to be allowed to participate in anything we don’t want. On behalf of the tribal chiefs of the two districts, I urge you not to demonstrate or engage in anarchic actions against the local or central government,” Yosef Mimin emphasized.
With this statement, he emphasized that community involvement in actions that harm the state and the public will only have negative impacts. He argued that maintaining security is a tangible contribution of indigenous communities to ongoing national development.
More broadly, the voice of the Customary Council, which oversees six districts and 53 villages in Tolikara, was also firmly conveyed. The Chief of the Customary Council, Januarius Uwok Danak, stated that the community must be discerning in responding to information.
“I remind the public to ignore issues that are detrimental to the government, not to participate in demonstrations that oppose the government, and not to engage in anarchic acts,” concluded Januarius Uwok Danak.
The message affirms the collective commitment of traditional leaders to maintaining stability at the village and district levels. Public support for this appeal is believed to be able to prevent potential unrest and strengthen social resilience in the region.
As various issues develop in the public sphere, this call from traditional leaders serves as a crucial foundation for the Papuan people, particularly those in Tolikara, to maintain peace as a top priority. The call to reject anarchic actions is not only a concern for security but also a concrete manifestation of support for sustainable development.
With the moral message from traditional leaders, it is hoped that the Tolikara community will become more resolute in rejecting all forms of provocation. The path to progress in Papua can only be achieved if a conducive climate is maintained, allowing all elements to focus on supporting regional and national development.
