Jakarta – The Eid homecoming (mudik) is an annual tradition eagerly awaited by Indonesians. Each year, millions of people travel back to their hometowns to celebrate with their families.

However, high travel costs remain a challenge for homecoming travelers. To ease the financial burden on the public, the government has introduced various incentives to facilitate smoother travel and reduce transportation expenses.

One of the policies implemented is a 20 percent discount on toll fares and a 10 percent discount on Damri bus tickets, aimed at providing greater convenience for those traveling during Eid 1446 H.

Jasa Marga President Director, Subakti Syukur, announced that the government is offering various incentives to ensure a smooth Eid homecoming in 2025, including a 20 percent toll fare discount. This discount will be valid for six days during the Eid holiday period.

“The toll fare discount applies to travel from Jakarta to Semarang and vice versa along the Trans-Java toll road. This 20 percent discount is available for all vehicle categories,” Subakti stated.

The discount applies to the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, MBZ Elevated Toll Road, Palikanci Toll Road, Batang-Semarang Toll Road, and Semarang ABC Toll Road. However, the discount is only available for users paying with an e-toll card.

“This means that only toll road users who pay with an e-toll card will receive the discount,” Subakti explained.

He also mentioned that Jasa Marga will operate several functional toll road segments to help ease traffic congestion. Additionally, the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road will be used situationally for return traffic.

“We will operate the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo Toll Road, including the Klaten-Prambanan segment (8.5 km) free of charge, as well as the Prambanan-Purwomartani segment (6.78 km),” he added.

Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordination, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated that the toll fare discount aims to reduce travel costs for homecoming travelers and reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the public.

“The Ministry of Public Works has coordinated efforts to offer a 20 percent discount on toll fares across various toll roads in Indonesia,” AHY said.

Meanwhile, Damri’s Head of Public Relations, Asep Mulyana, announced that Damri is providing a 10 percent discount on all travel routes during Eid 2025.

“We hope this discount will make homecoming travel more affordable and provide a safer and more comfortable journey with Damri,” Asep stated.

Through these various policies, the government demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a smoother, more comfortable, and more affordable Eid homecoming experience for all citizens.
