Towards Economic Independence, Government Builds National Food Barn in Merauke
Merauke – In order to realize economic independence and national food security, the government continues to be committed to strengthening the agricultural sector as one of the main pillars of development. As a concrete step, the construction of the National Food Barn located in Merauke is currently underway with great hopes of accelerating the fulfillment of food needs throughout Indonesia.
Papuan Youth Figure, Gifli Buine said this strategic project aims to produce food products sustainably and reduce dependence on imports.
“The national food security program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto is a good step, which can then have an impact on the Papuan people,” said Gifli.
Gifli also said that the selection of Merauke as the location of the national food barn was very appropriate because it would have a positive impact on the community.
“Of course, the determination of Merauke Regency as a national food barn area is the right step. Because when Merauke Regency is a national food barn area, it will have an impact on us, the Papuan people,” he said.
In addition, Gifli hopes that the community will support and make this food barn program a success, so that it can improve the economy in Papua.
“However, this program cannot run well if it does not get support from us, the Papuan people and the younger generation. So of course the national food security program must get support from the younger generation and the community,” said Gifli.
Gifli added that the people in Merauke have indeed had a high commitment to agricultural development. This aims to support the needs of the community, both in the financial and economic fields.
“So we all have to support and oversee the program. So that the impact of this program can help change the economy of the Papuan people to be better and the Papuan people have good food security too,” he said.
He hopes that with this food barn program, Indonesia, especially Papua, can achieve stronger and more independent food security in the future.
