Without Sacrificing the Future, Government Implements Education-Friendly APBN Efficiency

JAKARTA – The government ensures that the efficiency of the State Budget (APBN) remains supportive of the education sector without compromising the future of the nation’s next generation.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) guarantees that priority education programs will continue to run to maintain the quality and sustainability of the national education system.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, emphasized that the provision of social assistance through the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) for elementary to vocational school students will continue to be fulfilled.
Additionally, allowances for non-state civil servant teachers, both in public and private schools, will remain available in the 2025 budget allocation.
“We ensure that the efficiency measures still consider the sustainability of education programs and the welfare of educators,” said Abdul Mu’ti.
In line with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 1 of 2025, Kemendikdasmen has adjusted the budget from IDR 33.5 trillion to IDR 26.27 trillion without disrupting educational services.
Abdul Mu’ti added that the adjusted budget can still be discussed further to support other strategic programs.
Chairperson of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Hetifah Sjaifudian, appreciated Kemendikdasmen’s efforts to ensure that the education budget remains safeguarded.
“As was explained earlier, spending for Civil Servants (ASN) has been secured, social assistance including PIP is preserved from cuts, and ongoing contracts and procurement expenditures are ensured to continue. The President’s Priority Programs have been allocated,” she said.
Prabowo Subianto’s spokesperson, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, emphasized that the APBN efficiency measures are not carried out recklessly and will not affect scholarships or the welfare of teachers.
“Efficiency is only applied to budget allocations that are misdirected and not directly related to public services or human resources,” he explained in a post on X.
With this policy, the government guarantees that budget efficiency will not sacrifice the future of national education.
On the contrary, it is a strategic step to ensure the continuity of priority programs and the improvement of the quality of education in Indonesia.
