Jakarta – Ahead of the commemoration of International Workers’ Day or May Day on May 1, 2025, calls to commemorate it peacefully, with dignity, and meaningfully have been echoed by various elements of labor unions and community leaders. This momentum is considered not only a day of labor struggle, but also a reflection of the strategic role of workers in maintaining national stability and national economic progress.

The Regional Leadership Council of the National Workers Union (DPD-SPN) of Banten Province invites all workers to commemorate May Day 2025 in a dignified, peaceful, and meaningful manner. “Let’s commemorate and celebrate May Day 2025 in a dignified, peaceful, and meaningful manner,” said the representative of DPD-SPN Banten. They also encouraged workers to convey their aspirations with enthusiasm and intelligence, including in the demonstration that will be held in front of Monas.

In line with that, the General Chairperson of the National Conscience Movement (GNK), Habib Syakur Ali reminded that aspirations be conveyed peacefully and productively. “May Day is an important moment for workers to voice their rights, but it must be celebrated in a positive, joyful way, and still maintain unity,” he said.

Meanwhile, political observer from Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Dr. Nurmadi Harsa Sumarta assessed the importance of a wise attitude from workers in responding to May Day. According to him, demonstrations that are not managed wisely can cause a domino effect in the form of economic losses and the destruction of the industry’s reputation. He reminded that the investment climate must be maintained for the common welfare.

The Chairman of the All Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI) of South Aceh Regency, Muhammad Dini said, “May Day is Collaboration Day, the spirit must be maintained, let’s knit togetherness to improve workers’ welfare and national productivity.”

Support for the orderly implementation of the action also came from the General Chairperson of AJI, Nany Afrida, and the Chairperson of the Garteks DPC of Subang Regency, Herman, who emphasized the importance of synergy with the authorities and maintaining a conducive atmosphere.

“This nation is great not because of its noise, but because of its unity,” concluded the SPN Banten statement, reflecting the spirit of intelligent, united, and dignified workers.

With a reflective and collaborative spirit, May Day 2025 is a reminder that the labor struggle must be based on wisdom, peace, and a commitment to maintaining social harmony. This is the time to make Labor Day a space for self-evaluation and affirmation of mature attitudes in front of the public.
